What is a Slot?

A narrow opening or a hole in a vehicle’s roof or door, usually on the edge of the body or frame. The slot is used to secure the hatch closed or to open and close it. Also called slit, notch, aperture, or vent.

A fixed or variable number of paylines in a slot machine. Most modern slots offer multiple paylines, which increase the player’s chances of winning by increasing the odds of hitting a paying combination. In addition, many online slots have progressive jackpots that can increase the prize amount by each bet.
